Hern reiterates call on disgraced Secret Service Director Cheatle to resign

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee held a hearing on the catastrophic security failure at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“Today's hearing confirmed what we already know— the assassination attempt on July 13th was preventable and happened as the direct result of catastrophic leadership failures in the Secret Service,” said Rep. Hern. “President Biden and Vice President Harris refuse to hold her accountable, a longstanding pattern in this Administration. Director Cheatle cannot be trusted to fulfill the critical mission of the Secret Service and should not hold that office. The limited information Cheatle gave at today’s hearing was drenched in arrogance, a blatant refusal to share crucial details about the assassination attempt on President Trump. I join the millions of Americans and my colleagues in demanding accountability for the worst security failure in modern history.”
