Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) released the following statement on the Iranian missile strikes on Iraqi military bases housing American forces and President Trump’s announcement of increased sanctions against Iran.

“President Trump made it clear to the world that there are real consequences for attacking Americans,” said Hern. “He followed through on his promises and rid the world of a hateful, evil terrorist. This was a decision that showed our strength and power, and any adversary who might harm our people will have to think twice about it.

“These retaliatory strikes were predicted and expected. Their main function was to be used as propaganda to support the Iranian regime rather than cause actual damage to our troops. I am hopeful that they will not risk the full might of our military’s response again by harming American citizens. President Trump made the right choice by increasing sanctions on Iran and de-escalating the military aggression. I have always maintained that President Trump will do what it takes to keep Americans safe, and I fully believe in him to continue doing so.

Hern continued, “President Trump has resurrected the credibility of the American name overseas after years of the apologetic Obama administration. There’s certainly a lot of work left to do, but I believe that through the work of our President and our foreign allies, we will continue to make progress in the region and eliminate the nasty threat of terrorism.”
