On Saturday, March 27, Congressman Kevin Hern (OK-1) engaged in a series of meetings in Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District. Over the course of the last week, Rep. Hern met with civic organizations, small business owners, financial institutions, students, veterans, police officers, educators, local press and other community leaders to receive stakeholder input and assess the needs of the district. Prior to March 27th, Rep. Hern held an additional 6 meetings with constituents in the district, totaling a number of 21 meetings during the district work period between March 22 and March 31. “I’ve enjoyed my time being home,” said Rep. Hern. “Our district is made up of wonderful people - people who care deeply for their communities. I have been honored for so many of these people to take time out of their busy schedules these last couple weeks and meet with me. Now that I am on the Ways and Means Committee, the chief-tax writing committee in Congress, it was important for me to hear directly from my constituents on how they want me to represent them moving forward, particularly as it relates to tax policy. There is cause for concern on how our district will be impacted by some of the negative policies coming out of Washington D.C., but I’m confident in our people, and their resolve to live prosperous and harmonious American dreams. As I prepare to make my way back to our nation’s capital to represent you and your values, I am honored and humbled to serve not simply my constituents, but my neighbors”.
