“My constituents have made their feelings incredibly clear: they are overwhelmingly opposed to any attempt by President Biden and Congressional Democrats to take away our 2^nd Amendment rights,” said Rep. Hern. “I fully support my constituents in these beliefs. The legislation before the House today is an attack on the Constitution that violates our 2^nd Amendment and due process rights. I voted against these bills because they fail to address the true problem and instead target law-abiding citizens. I will always defend our 2^nd Amendment.” 

Background Information

HR 2377, the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Act, includes provisions that: 

• Take away the due process rights of law-abiding gun owners,
• Create a red flag system with no protections against abuse, and
•  Would not reduce crime.

HR 7910, the Protecting our Kids Act, includes provisions that: 

• Do not protect Americans,
• Fail to address mental health issues, and
• Infringe on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.
