Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) released the following statement after voting against HR 6119, providing short-term funding for the federal government through February. “Congress hasn’t passed a proper budget in years, and it’s been decades since we followed the timeline set out in the Congressional Budget Act,” said Rep. Hern. “No wonder our debt is soaring! The House continues to recklessly spend taxpayer dollars without any effort to create a budget or mitigate the debt crisis. It’s long past time to abandon these swampy spending measures and get back to work on common-sense spending reforms. “I’ve been consistent with my votes against short-term spending measures like this. These bills are not an adequate replacement for the proper budget process. We can’t keep kicking the can down the road and ignore the real problem – this is exactly the kind of broken system I came to Congress to fix.” ###
