Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) released the following statement after the September jobs report was released, showing only 194,000 jobs created. “Biden’s leadership has failed the American people on every front,” said Rep. Hern. “We’re nearly 1 million jobs short of what the President promised with his American Rescue Plan at the start of the year. It’s time for him to admit what we’ve all known from the start – socialist policies don’t work. They’re not bringing jobs back; instead, they’re causing the American people to suffer under record-high unemployment and unending inflation. Republicans stand ready to put proven pro-growth policies in place, I just hope it isn’t too late.” The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its unemployment report for September showing only 194,000 jobs created. Including revisions, President Biden is falling short of jobs promised as part of the March American Rescue Plan stimulus by 944,000 jobs. Biden will need nearly 1.5 million jobs to close the gap next month. The unemployment rate fell slightly to 4.8%, and labor force participation remains stuck at 61.6 percent. This is still 1.7 percentage points lower than pre-pandemic level of 63.3 percent. ### |
