RSC Exec. Director to join Speaker Johnson’s Policy Team

Republican Study Committee Executive Director Jay Fields is joining Speaker Mike Johnson’s office as Deputy Policy Director. Fields was tapped to serve as RSC’s Executive Director at the end of 2022 when Rep. Kevin Hern (OK-01) became Chairman. Previously, Fields served as RSC’s Policy Director under Chairmen Jim Banks and Mike Johnson, and as a Professional Policy Staffer under Chairman Mark Walker.

Fields is the second RSC Executive Director tapped to join Speaker Johnson’s team following the hire of Dan Ziegler as Policy Director. Ziegler was the RSC Executive Director under Chairmen Mark Walker, Mike Johnson, and Jim Banks.

“Jay has served the conservative movement well during his tenure with RSC. He’s going to be an asset to Speaker Johnson as the Speaker leads our Majority through these crucial funding fights,” said Chairman Hern. “Under Fields’ tenure, RSC produced the only budgets in Congress – this is a critical skill that will benefit our entire Majority as we are united in the goal of passing a budget and completing appropriations on time next year. I look forward to Jay’s continued success in his new role with Speaker Johnson.”

Chairman Hern’s Chief of Staff Cameron Foster will be leading the transition as Fields departs for the Speaker’s office.
