Oklahoma delegation introduces legislation renaming Owasso Post Office after late Sgt. Marshal Roberts

Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) introduced legislation on Friday to rename the U.S. Post Office located at 1233 North Cedar Street in Owasso, Okla., after fallen Air National Guardsman, Sergeant Marshal Roberts.

Sgt. Roberts, from Owasso, gave his life in service to our country while deployed in Iraq in March 2020.

The entire Oklahoma delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives joined Rep. Hern as original co-sponsors of the bill.

“Sergeant Marshal Roberts served his country with integrity and gave his all in the line of duty this spring,” said Congressman Hern. “His legacy has inspired so many; renaming the Owasso Post Office ensures his legacy will live on for our community to see every day. Oklahomans have incredible respect for those who serve our country. We will never forget Sgt. Roberts and his sacrifice.”

“As an Oklahoma Air National Guardsman, Staff Sergeant Marshal Roberts was an American hero, who served his country with commitment, selflessness, and courage. Oklahoma will never forget his service, keeping our state and nation safe for us and future generations,” said Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03). “I am proud to support the naming of the Owasso Post Office in Owasso, Oklahoma, after Staff Sergeant Marshal Roberts. It is an honor to recognize his sacrifice, bravery, and the example he set for all of us. His legacy, as an Airman, mentor, father, and husband, will live with us forever, and I thank him and his family for his service to this grateful country.”

Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) said, “Staff Sergeant Marshal Roberts selflessly served and defended our country with tremendous courage, bravery and distinction. We will forever mourn the loss of his life, which was tragically taken by enemies whose goal is to bring harm to the United States and attack freedom everywhere. The patriotism, dedication and sacrifice displayed by Sergeant Roberts is a sobering reminder that freedom is not free. It is secured and preserved because of service members like Sergeant Roberts, who willingly put themselves in harm’s way and risk their own lives to keep us safe. While we can never do enough to repay such tremendous sacrifice and devotion, I am proud to join my colleagues in seeking to honor his legacy by naming the Owasso Post Office after him.”

“Staff Sgt. Roberts made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great country,” said Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-02). “This stands as a somber reminder of the brave Oklahomans who have given their lives to protect those of us at home and those who continue to fight for our freedoms. We will never forget Staff Sgt. Roberts and continue to keep his family and friends in our prayers.”

“Staff Sergeant Marshal Roberts bravely served our nation. He gave his life in service to our country during an attack on a US military installation in Iraq,” said Congresswoman Kendra Horn (OK-05). “We lost a hero. We owe our service members and their families a debt of gratitude that can never fully be repaid. I am proud to join my colleagues on a bill to rename the Owasso post office after Sergeant Roberts to honor his life and legacy and ensure he will never be forgotten.”
